We are an active Indivisible Group in Fairfax County, VA.
Turning the Tables is a grassroots group that was created in March 2025 in direct response to the threat to our democracy resulting from the 2024 election.
We are dedicated to strengthening democracy through civic and voter education, constitutional literacy, and informed, inclusive civic participation. We believe in peaceful action, equal rights, the rule of law, and a democracy that works for everyone.
We have organized our effort into the following work groups.
Elections
➢ Supports democratic candidates in key races in 2025 and 2026 through involvement in campaigns, voter registration, postcards, etc.
Political Outreach
➢ Encourages congress to do their jobs by contacting their congressman on a regular basis, attending town halls and visiting congressional offices.
➢ This can be expanded to include judges, local reps, school boards, state level offices, etc.
Just the Facts
➢ Educates the public on the meaning of the Constitution, the Declaration of Independence and the Bill of Rights by hosting educational events and providing literature to the public.
➢ Engage in activities to combat misinformation and disinformation – such as Indivisible’s Truth Brigade.
Immigration
➢ Advocates for due process for all and aides the immigrant community by providing “Know Your Rights” literature and providing other support to the community such as food banks and shelters.
Public Benefits Working Group
➢ Provide pressure on Congress to protect Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, SNAP, Head Start, etc.
Working Group Structure
Each working group would have 1 leader and a co-leader if the size of the group warrants a co-leader.
To become a Working Group Leader, a proposal will be required for Advisory Group review. This proposal must include the following:
Write up the types of activity that will support the working group. Include description of event, support needed, participants expected, etc. Include a description of any support that you may require from the Advisory Group, such as social media or funding needs.
Identify the Leader and Co-Leader.
Identify target date(s) for activity.

Misinformation, Disinformation, and AI 101: Strategies and Toold
Sat, Feb 28, 4:30pm-5:30pm EST - Register here!
Today, we can consume news and media faster and more easily than ever before. At the same time, the volume and speed of information can feel overwhelming and make it harder to know what to trust.
The growing availability of AI tools has changed how information is created, shared, and perceived online. This affects all of us, regardless of age or experience, and even people who consider themselves tech savvy or media literate.
This class offers a practical introduction to media literacy, including a breakdown of misinformation and disinformation with real-world examples. We will also cover tips and accessible tools to help identify AI-generated content, understand how algorithms shape what we see, and make more informed decisions about what to engage with and share.
Craftism is “a contemporary form of activism that uses craft as its primary mode for political and social engagement.”
Angry Knit-In
Sunday, March 8 All Day, DC
Register here!
It's Gonna be a Stitch!
What's the Knit-in? It's a nationwide craft-based protest turning fiber arts into feminist resistance. Hundreds of crafters, artists, and activists will converge on the National Mall to weave, knit, crochet, and frog the fabric of democracy — unraveling the knots of patriarchy and authoritarianism so we can remake something better.
Led by Daniella Mestyanek Young (known online as Knitting Cult Lady), an author, veteran, and movement organizer, the event reframes “women’s work” as revolutionary work.
Date: International Women's Day · March 8th 2026
Location: Washington D.C. (Exact location TBD) Time: 10 AM – Sunset (5:45PM)
Participants arrive in frog hats, green bandanas, or full frog costumes — each one a symbol of repair.
Throughout the day, craft circles and art stations invite people to:
· Knit, crochet, and embroider protest pieces. · Frog symbolic projects — physically unraveling a piece labeled “patriarchy,” “fascism,” or “fear.” · Tie together yarn into a 200-foot tapestry reading KNOT TODAY, FASCISM. · Crochet granny squares for a giant “Knot today, fascism” tapestry display · Walk through the Mall · At sunset, all threads are tied together and raised — an act of collective remaking.
